Each WeWork was designed to offer a distinct experience through materials, finishes, lighting, art, and graphics. A key part of the design process was finding the right balance between privacy and community, understanding local workplace culture while introducing WeWork’s principles of connection and collaboration.

Local materials, references, and design concepts were incorporated into each project, translating a global brand into spaces that felt authentic to their surroundings and created a stronger sense of belonging for the people using them.

WeWork entered Japan during a period of rapid growth, opening new locations across some of the country’s most dynamic urban centers.

Working within the WeWork Japan design team, the process was highly collaborative and fast-paced, bringing together interior designers, architects, project managers, and operations teams to deliver each location from concept through completion.

Beyond designing workplaces, the challenge was to introduce a new way of working to Japan, translating WeWork’s global identity into spaces that responded to local culture, context, and ways of living and working.
